It's no surprise that the revival of interest in fascia has prompted world-renowned osteopath Leon Chaitow to devote his latest work to this tissue. He is a well-known and respected authority in Poland on manual therapy, author of numerous widely read specialist books on this type of therapy. He invited a group of 20 renowned authorities on connective tissue, as well as creators and promoters of original methods of connective tissue therapy, to compile this work.

The introductory section of the book describes the current state of research on the role of connective tissue, primarily fascia, in our bodies. The main section, however, is devoted to describing 15 different methods of fascia therapy, including:

• Bowen Technique

• Connective tissue manipulation and skin repositioning

• Fascia-focused training for sports and exercise therapy

• Fascial Manipulation® method used in the treatment of lower back pain

• Fascia unwinding

• Ligament tension balancing technique

• Mobilization of soft tissues using devices

• Muscle Energy Techniques

• Myofascial Stimulation Therapy

• Neuromuscular technique combined with soft tissue manipulation

• Positional Release Techniques (including counter-tension techniques)

• Rolfing® – Structural Integration

• Management of pathological scar tissue

• Massage

• Trigger point suppression methods, including dry needling

Fascial dysfunction is currently recognized as one of the leading causes of musculoskeletal pain, leading to impaired movement and reduced range of motion. All therapists using manual methods encounter these symptoms in their daily practice.

This book should therefore be on the bookshelf of every therapist professionally involved in the treatment of pain and mobility disorders. It is primarily aimed at manual therapists, which in Poland means that its primary audience should be physiotherapists. However, because the problem of improving musculoskeletal dysfunction is interdisciplinary in nature, this work should also be of interest to physicians specializing in orthopedics, rheumatology, and neurology. This book is also intended for massage therapists, both those who use massage in clinical settings and those who use it for sports injury prevention and wellness.
