INFINITE NETWORK – R. Louis Schultz, Rosemary Feitis
A MUST READ for every doctor, psychologist, physiotherapist, masseur and anyone using manual therapies .
We tend to think of the body's structure as composed of muscles and bones, forgetting the fascial system, which literally connects and supports the body's elements, creating its structure. The book presents connective tissue as a structure similar to a "web" enveloping our entire body and having a fundamental impact on the shape of our figure. Connective tissue (fascia) envelops our entire body like an unbroken spiderweb. It is this fascia that stores records of all movement patterns and emotional states (it encodes all psychological traumas and hardens during stress or increased exertion).
– The body always moves as a vibrating whole. How are bones and muscles supported within a moving structure?
– A person's movement patterns are an expression of their personality patterns. How can we dissolve these ingrained, reflexive, and usually unconscious patterns of tension?
– How to recognize and release a recording fixed at the tissue level, e.g. a compensatory pattern that arises as a result of an injury?
– How does fascia support the body’s desire to achieve maximum balance at all times and to provide maximum support for our actions? In fetal life, connective tissue is the bedrock of cell differentiation and, from this perspective, is the first, fundamental basis for physical form. This book will show you how all the parts of this network are interconnected, creating "strands" with ideal properties that are neither too loose nor too tight. Reading this book will show you that the Rolfing method addresses connective tissue and is extremely effective in therapeutic work.
The book discusses not only the importance of fascia in terms of musculoskeletal diseases; it also shows that connective tissue – which wraps our body like a spider's web and changes its structure and function depending on where it is located – is a storehouse and carrier of emotions, and that it is closely related to a person's image and consciousness.

R. Louis Schultz, Ph.D., completed his Rolfing training in 1973. The following year, he created an anatomy curriculum for The Rolf Institute and became a Rolfing Movement teacher. He has led workshops for Rolfers in numerous states across the United States, as well as in Germany, Italy, England, Brazil, and Australia. In 1972, Dr. Schultz retired from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he held the position of Professor and Chairman of the Department of Human Biology. He is the author of over forty scientific publications. He received his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Wisconsin in 1955.
Rosemary Feitis, DO, attended Barnard College and the University of California, Berkeley. Initially, she worked with Dr. Rolf on a book about Rolfing (Rolfing, The Integration of Human Structure) and eventually completed her Rolfing training in 1969. For many years, she worked intensively with Dr. Ida Rolf, "keeping the Rolfing infant alive," as Dr. Rolf once said. She also explored interesting aspects of human potential movement. In 1978, seeing the need for a less formal book about Rolfing, she published Rolfing and Physical Reality, a collection of quotations from Dr. Rolf's lectures. With Luis Schultz, she co-published Remembering Ida Rolf, a collection of stories about the founder of Rolfing. Dr. Feitis received her osteopathic degree in 1990 and currently maintains a private Rolfing and homeopathy practice in New York City.
