Fascial Release for Structural Balance combines manual therapy skills with the exciting field of structural therapy, utilizing the unique, newly discovered properties of fascial tissues. Fascia, as a biological structure, plays a vital role in support, posture, and stability. By consciously assessing and manipulating fascial patterns, you will be able to permanently change many of the chronic tension patterns your patients complain of.

This publication is intended for all bodywork practitioners who utilize manual therapy. Physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, and massage therapists can help their current and future patients through structural analysis and therapeutic strategy planning using the techniques described in this book. The authors have provided a unique introduction to structural anatomy, enriching it with current knowledge of fascia and postural analysis, along with clear and detailed descriptions of the techniques.

James Earls completed his initial bodywork training in 1991. In 2000, he began training with Thomas Myers. He currently practices Structural Integration and massage in Belfast and is the director of Ulti-mate Massage Solutions and Kinesis UK, which provides highly specialized training in Anatomy Trains, Fascial Release Techniques, and Structural Integration throughout Europe. Earls is a popular lecturer and regularly contributes to a number of bodywork journals.

Thomas Myers has practiced Structural Integration Therapy in a variety of clinical and cultural settings for 30 years. He is the author of the book Anatomical Tapes (DB Publishing 2010) and numerous articles for professional journals. Myers directs Kinesis Inc., which offers certified Structural Integration training and professional development for manual and movement therapists from various professions worldwide.

  • "What a wonderful idea to combine the knowledge and thinking of James Earls with the classic contributions to structural bodywork by Tom Myers. This is a long-awaited development of the theoretical concept of the Anatomy Lines in a clearly written, practical "how-to" manual. It should be read by all bodywork professionals from various disciplines—not just those focusing on structural integration."— Art Riggs, Advanced Certified Rolfer® and massage therapist, author of Deep Tissue Massage: A Visual Guide to Techniques.

  • “Fascial release has never been presented in such a clear and achievable way – a wonderfully illustrated, excellent read.” – Leon Chaitow, ND, DO, Honorary Lecturer, University of Westminster, London, Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies.

  • “This book is a complete and innovative approach to fascial release techniques.” – Dr. Erik Dalton, author of Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques®.

  • "Brilliantly combining craft with science, this book integrates many aspects of structural change with anatomical accuracy. This allows you to see the relationships within the human body and how they relate to creating the different patterns you will observe in your patients. Equally important, this book offers you a strategy for solving the related problems."— Dr. Robert Schleip, MA, Director of the Fascia Research Project, Institute of Applied Physiology, University of Ulm, and Director of Research, European Rolfing Association .
